Taxonomic studies were carried out on the ant genus Lepisiota Santschi, 1926 in India, with description of four new species, L. binghami sp. nov., pusaensis satpuraensis and wilsoni based worker caste. Redescription distribution records five known annandalei (Mukerjee, 1930), bipartita (Smith, 1861), integra (Forel, 1894), layla Wachkoo, Bharti & Akbar, 2021, pulchella 1892), are provided. An identification key to seventeen Indian species caste is presented. The male genitalia described detail illustration different morphological details. Four species of the ant genus Ponera Latreille, 1804, are recorded from India. The present study reports one new species Ponera sikkimensis sp. n., a divergent population of Ponera indica Bharti & Wachkoo, 2012 and one new record, Ponera paedericera Zhou, 2001 from India. An identification key and distributions for the four known Indian species of Ponera based on the worker caste are provided.

Two species are recognised, of which one (differens) is described as new, and two names are established as new junior synonyms of the type-species silvestrii (lucidus and lamottei). A new diagnosis of the genus is presented, based on the female castes (male remains unknown) and critical morphological characters are discussed.
